The European Union’s motto is ‘Unity in Diversity’, but as the economic crisis widens the gap between Northern and Southern Europe, is what divides us stronger than what unites us?

Does the rise of far-right parties mean it is time to accept that “multiculturalism” has failed?

Are we in danger of forgetting the lessons of the 20th Century, when millions died or were persecuted in Europe based on national, ethnic or other divisions? How can diversity be turned into a strength instead of an excuse for hatred?

We will be tackling these and many other questions in a series of debates focused on diversity in Europe.
